PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tire failure detection method and a device which detects a tire internal failure with higher accuracy than hitherto. SOLUTION: In these tire failure detection method and device, for detecting generation of the internal failure in a rotating pneumatic tire 2, a process is repeated for measuring the surface temperature of the rotating pneumatic tire 2 over the whole circumference along the tire peripheral direction by a noncontact temperature sensor 3. Former and latter surface temperature data measured at a prescribed time interval are compared on each corresponding position on the tire circumference, and the temperature variation is calculated, and it is determined that the internal failure is generated when the temperature variation becomes over a prescribed threshold.
