SLR camera with mid-exposure zooming function - initiates driving of zoom motor based on operation of mid-exposure zoom-initiation trigger switch

A zoom motor is provided for driving a zoom lens, with a trigger switch for starting mid-exposure zooming. A zooming start unit starts the driving of the motor based on the operation of the trigger switch, before starting exposure based on the actuation. A counter counts the exposure time synchronously with the operation of zooming start unit, with exposure started when the counter reaches a predetermined time. A memory stores the focal length upon completion of zooming, and a controller stops the motor when the focal length is reached upon completion of zooming as memorised during mid-exposure zooming. The zoom lens may include a memory switch, and the focal length memory operates based on the operation of the switch.
