PURPOSE: A method for sensing the amount of the laundry of a washing machine is provided to increase the number of pulses generated in turning off a washing motor by increasing torque of the washing motor in detecting the laundry amount and accordingly to exactly sense the laundry amount by enlarging difference of the pulses generated from the washing motor to the laundry. CONSTITUTION: A method for sensing the amount of the laundry of a washing machine is composed of steps for increasing torque of a washing motor by applying constant power to the washing motor and increasing capacity generated by a plurality of capacitors for driving the washing motor(S31,S32); turning off the washing motor after the constant time(S34); and sensing the amount of the laundry to the number of pulses generated by the residual electromotive force of the washing motor(S35,S36,S38). The plural capacitors are connected between main and auxiliary coils of the washing motor in parallel. |
