Gas discharge lamp comprises an electrode consisting of a carrier made of tungsten and a tungsten-containing alloy and a first coating made of an electron-emitting material made of an alkaline earth metal oxide selected from calcium oxide, strontium oxide and barium oxide, and a rare earth metal oxide selected from scandium oxide, yttrium oxide and europium oxide in an amount of 0.1-10 wt.%. Preferred Features: A second coating made of a second electron-emitting material made of an alkaline earth metal oxide selected from calcium oxide, strontium oxide and barium oxide, and a rare earth metal oxide selected from scandium oxide, yttrium oxide and europium oxide is arranged between the carrier and the first coating. A third coating made of rhenium, rhodium, iridium or platinum is arranged between the carrier and the first coating. |
