PURPOSE: A method and a system for instantly processing settlement are provided to promote transaction by the online auction for an expensive article and instantly settle a settlement price. CONSTITUTION: Customers(107) connect to a web page displaying the used card information by connecting to a shopping mall provided from a web site operated by a settlement server(101). The customer joins in the auction by selecting a used car through the web page, a dealer(109), or a commercial firm(111). If the customer fixed as a successful bidder performs the settlement by using a credit card, the customer applies for an instant settlement service through the web page provided from the settlement server. The settlement server requests a credit card approval to a PG(Payment Gateway) company(103) by using the credit card information of the customer. The PC company requests the approval to a card company(105). The card company judges the approval for the credit card transaction based on the credit card information of the customer and transmits the approval to the settlement server through the PG company.
