PURPOSE: A method for verifying forgery/alteration of an ID card is provided to confirm the forgery/alteration of the ID card by comparing the ID data with the original ID data in a remote place through a PC or a mobile terminal. CONSTITUTION: An image of the ID card is obtained by using a camera of the PC or the mobile terminal, a scanner, and a client program(S200). A text image area, a photo area, and an ID card form image area are divided from the ID image(S210). Integrity is verified by comparing a Hash value of an ID card form with the Hash value of a standard form stored in a form register of a client(S230). A name, an ID number, and an address are extracted by converting the text image area into a text stream and extracting/recognizing the features of the text image area(S250). The Hash value is calculated by applying a message digest algorithm to the text stream and the photo image(S260). The Hash value and the ID number are transmitted to a remote server system through the network(S280). The integrity of the ID card is judged by comparing the Hash value stored in a database with the Hash value received from the client(S340). A verification result is transmitted to the client(S510).
