PURPOSE: A method for adjusting an offset in a camera is provided to reduce search time and control an offset using characteristics of a zoom trace curve. CONSTITUTION: A characteristic point on the left part of the actual zoom trace curve of a camera for which an offset requires to be adjusted on the basis of the vertex of the actual zoom trace curve is selected, the length of the cross section of the characteristic point is measured and stored(ST100). A database of a predetermined theoretical zoom trace curve is searched for a cross-section length that is the nearest to the stored cross-section length, and one point on the left part of the theoretical zoom trace curve is stored(ST200). An offset between one point on the left part of the actual zoom trace curve and one point on the left part of the theoretical zoom trace curve is calculated(ST300).
