PURPOSE: A method for driving a plasma display panel is provided to improve contrast by supplying a positive and/or negative pulse to an address electrode during a set-up period and/or set-down period. CONSTITUTION: A rising ramp wave(Ramp-up) is supplied to a plurality of scan electrodes(Y) during a set-up period. A falling ramp wave(Ramp-down) is supplied to the scan electrodes during a set-down period after the set-up period. A positive pulse(SP) is supplied to a plurality of address electrodes that are crossed with the scan electrodes during some of the set-up period. The positive pulse is supplied to a plurality of address electrodes at the same time of the rising ramp wave or in advance. The positive pulse then is maintained during an early stage of the set-up period. |
