PURPOSE: A method for managing an endpoint address for packet tunneling in a data communication system is provided to manage a tunnel endpoint address for packet tunneling by using a linked list table including at least one linked list entry, thereby reducing a processing time of the tunnel endpoint address and improving memory access performance. CONSTITUTION: When a registration command for a tunnel endpoint address is inputted(100), a processor re-disposes the tunnel endpoint address, and inserts a mode bit showing a kind of a packet corresponding to the tunnel endpoint address(110). The processor extracts lower 19 bits of the tunnel endpoint address as a hash key(120), and retrieves a hash table by using the extracted hash key(130). The processor decides whether a corresponding hash entry is available(140). If not, the processor registers a new linked list entry in a foremost position of a corresponding hash chain(150). Indexes are stored in a field of the new linked list entry(170). |
