PURPOSE: Provided is a battery having a containing member which has reduced swelling phenomenon occurring on charging or discharging, and therefore prevents the deformation and deterioration of the battery. CONSTITUTION: The battery comprises an electrode assembly(10) which is formed by rolling an anode plate, a cathode plate and a separator for blocking the direct contact between them; and a containing member for receiving the electrode assembly(10) which comprises an inner surface(50b) having a curved portion(50c) corresponding to round portion(10d) of the electrode assembly(10). Particularly, the containing member further comprises a can(50) and a cap plate assembly for sealing it, and the curved portion(50c) is formed in the can(50). The electrode assembly(10) further comprises an anode tap and a cathode tap which are insulated from each other and are electrically connected to the other portions of the containing member independently.
