PURPOSE: A mobile type data storage device is provided to connect with an information system through a media connector which supports an interface, and to store data of the information system in a micro-miniaturized hard disk. CONSTITUTION: A hard disk portion(203) has a micro-miniaturized hard disk(208), and controls the hard disk(208). A memory portion(205) supplies a memory necessary for a controller(204). A display portion(206) informs the outside of a device state. An interface portion(207) interfaces with an outer device, and supplies power from the outside. The controller(204) controls each device, and transmits/receives an appropriate protocol. The controller(204) drives a compressed program, and stores higher-capacity data in the micro-miniaturized hard disk(208).
