An automatic and autonomous installation for taking measurements and acquiring three-dimensional shapes of subjects, particularly in the form of a booth adapted for human subjects, includes units for projecting light fringes, for taking rapid views, and for controlling the installation and processing the acquired views. The units for projection and taking views are gathered in one or several acquisition heads with a device generating a temporary wall of light opposite the acquisition heads.
