<p>The instrument is for use in a heart valve operation for producing or improving a heart valve function and has a shaft (1) with a proximal handgrip (2) and a distal hollow holder (3) arranged to accommodate an annular plastic band. The holder is provided with a removable sharp tip. The holder has a round path in a surface which is vertical on the shaft. Parallel to the holder is placed a reference ring, reference disk or similar, which locates on the side of the holder directed towards the proximal outer end of the shaft. In an area through the heart muscle tissue, an annular plastic band is fitted, which at least partly surrounds the heart valve. In the heart muscle tissue, a channel is formed with a hollow needle-shaped instrument. The annular plastic band is held in position at a predetermined location in the channel whilst the needle shaped instrument is withdrawn from the channel.</p> |
