The device is for the movement of the back section (14) and seat of an item of furniture into another direction and involves two hinge points which create space at the top of the back section, providing freedom of movement to the seat section (15). The seat section is also provided with a hingeable rotary point in order to achieve another direction of it. With this movemetn, the back section takes with it a partial or whole part of the seat into a horizontal position, so that a large surface appertains. With the aid of this movement the furniture can be altered in shape. To a main joist (1) with a hinge point (8) a hinge block/stirrup (2) is fixed and to a further point a further joist (3) is fixed.
