METHOD FOR DESIGNATING TYPE OF PACKET DATA UNIT IN WIRELESS PACKET DATA COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

PURPOSE: A method for designating a type of a PDU(Packet Data Unit) in a wireless packet data communication system is provided to previously designate a multiplexing type of signaling information capsulated in a PDU, and to reduce an overhead of an MAC(Media Access Control) layer necessary for retrieving a capsulation header of the PDU, thereby improving system performance. CONSTITUTION: When setting a service, a system decides whether to transmit a data unit having the first multiplexing type including data or signaling information by capsuling the data unit in a data unit having the second multiplexing type during the service. If the data unit having the first multiplexing type is capsulated in the data unit having the second multiplexing type, the system designates the first multiplexing type of the data unit capsulated in the data unit having the second multiplexing type between a transmitter and a receiver.
