PURPOSE: A driving method and a device of a defective-yarn cutter on a single weaving machine are characterized by controlling a cutting period according to one of rotation number of the weaving machine, density of weft and kinds of the weft, actualizing proper cut work, preventing a mistake of cutting, extending the expected life span of the cutter and economizing electric power. CONSTITUTION: On a single weaving machine, a driving method of a defective-yarn cutter installed on an opposite side of yarn feeding controls a cutting period according to one of rotation number of the weaving machine, density of weft and kinds of the weft. A device(1) of the defective-yarn cutter comprises: a defective-yarn cutter(5) installed on the opposite side of yarn feeding; an actuator(3) driving the defective-yarn cutter separated from a main shaft of the weaving machine(2); and a controller(20) controlling and driving the actuator(3) according to the cutting period.
