PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device that suppresses picture quality deterioration due to a movement blur and prevents picture quality deterioration due to an afterimage by controlling overshoot driving according to a frame frequency conversion rate, when performing high-speed driving display on a liquid crystal display panel by converting the frame frequency of an input image signal. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is equipped with a frame frequency conversion part 7 which converts the frame frequency of the input image signal by interpolating the specified number of subframes in an input image frame and a write gradation determining means of finding an emphasis conversion signal for compensating optical response characteristics of the liquid crystal display panel 5 according to gradation transition before and after at least one vertical display period of the image signal after the frame frequency conversion. The write gradation determining means generates the emphasis conversion signal for compensating the optical response characteristics of the liquid crystal display panel 5 by referring to one of OS table memories 3a and 3b according to the frame frequency conversion rate of the frame frequency conversion part 7 and supplies it as a display image to the liquid crystal display panel 5.
