PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inspection device for efficiently performing side face inspection with high reliability for a container such as a bottle. SOLUTION: This device is equipped with a center gear 2d provided coaxially with a rotary shaft 2b of a rotary table 2 for inspection, a gear 2e for rotation engaging with the center gear 2d and provided coaxially with a rod 8a for supporting a suction pad 8 disposed on a container hold part 2a of the rotary table 2 so as to be rotatable around the rod 8a, a clutch 10 changeable between a state of connection where the torque of the gear 2e is transmitted to the rod 8a and a state of disengagement where the torque is not transmitted to the rod 8a, and a brake 11 for fixing the rod 8a to the rotary table 2 while the clutch 10 is in the state of disengagement. The side face of the container W is photographed while rotating the container W with the clutch 10 kept in the state of connection within the width of the visual field of a camera.
