PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a top plate for cooking stoves that simplifies the mounting operation of a seal member to a glass plate, secures the sealing properties with a top plate frame body, and separating and recovering the glass plate, the top plate frame body, and the sealing member when disposing of a cooking stove having a glass top plate. SOLUTION: The top plate for cooking stoves comprises a picture-frame-like metal frame body 5, where a front frame piece 1 whose section is in a U shape having an upper piece, a side piece, and a lower piece, a rear frame piece 2, a left frame piece 3, and a right frame piece 4 are connected and formed by a fixing tool 8; and a glass plate 6 fixed to the metal frame body 5 via the sealing member. The metal frame body 5 may not be equipped with lower pieces 1c-4c of each frame piece, or may be formed in one piece by press machining. The sealing member is composed of a packing whose sectional shape is in a U shape having a recessed groove. In the glass plate 6, the outer periphery end is fitted to the recessed groove of the packing, and is fitted to the opening groove of the metal frame body 5 whose section is in a U shape, and is supported by the metal frame body 5 via the fixing tool 8.
