PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device in which the steering load in the steering region where a motor for steering assist is not operated can be reduced by ball bearings supporting a pinion rotated by the motor without installing any particular mechanism additionally. SOLUTION: The electric power steering device is equipped with a worm 3 rotated by the motor 1 for steering assist, ball bearings 7 and 8 supporting the worm 3 rotatably, and a worm wheel 4 to be engaged with the worm 3 and tied with a steering means, wherein the value of the axial internal gap of the ball bearings 7 and 8 is made greater than the specified value in JIS, and the worm 3 is together with the inner ring 7b or 8b moved in the axial longitudinal direction by the steering force transmitted to the worm 3 from the worm wheel 4 in the steering region where the motor 1 is not operated, and the steering load in the steering region where the motor 1 is not operated is reduced.
