<p>In a process to shape a hard steel work piece (W) in a drawing press (2, 4), the work piece is placed in the press and is then annealed and shock-cooled while still retained in the form. Following heating, the workpiece is slightly cooled at the periphery, causing it to bow towards and into a matrix (4) in which it is subjected to pressure by the form tool. While the plunger (2) descends into the matrix (4), the sheet metal panel (P) outer margin forms a surrounding dome, causing the annealing section within drawing press to advance, while the outer margin is pulled into the matrix.</p> |
