<p>A method for driving an actuator wherein an actuator having a polymer electrolyte layer and a metal electrode layer is driven in an aqueous solution, (1) characterized in that the above aqueous solution contains an ion forming an ion pair with the polymer electrolyte in an amount of 0.00001 to 1 mol/L, (2) characterized in that the above solution contains an polar organic solvent in an amount which is 0.01 wt % or more and is such that allows the above metal electrode layer to retain continuity in the above solution, or (3) wherein the above aqueous solution contains a surfactant. The above method allows the above actuator to be driven continuously for a period of 24 hours or more.</p> |
