An apparatus for recycling tyres, the apparatus comprising a pair of opposed rotatable members between which a tyre to be recycled may be disposed, the rotatable members being adapted to engage the opposed sidewalls of a tyre, a drive device for rotating at least one of the rotatable members, a pressing device connected to at least one of the members for urging the members together thereby, in use, to compress a tyre therebetween, and at least one cutting device located and adapted to cut the outer circumferential surface of a tyre rotated by the members.
