VIGNETTING COMPENSATION METHOD FOR IMPROVING IMAGE QUALITY OF CHEAP LENS

PURPOSE: A vignetting compensation method is provided to compensate vignetting in digital images. CONSTITUTION: A camera unit is corrected to vignetting defects(20). The corrected results are stored in a non-volatile memory(21). The corrected results are retrieved, and data for vignetting compensation are prepared(22). The corrected results are applied to all pixels of each image obtained for compensating vignetting. The corrected results are expressed as a polynomial surface function describing the vignetting defects. The corrected results are stored and retrieved using a polynomial coefficient matrix. The polynomial coefficient matrix is expressed as a normalized surface function describing the vignetting defects.
