<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a packing material capable of keeping the sufficient durability even when it is used under high temperature and high pressure, keeping high lubricating property for a long period, and constituting all gland packing to be packed in a staffing box by one kind of packing material. <P>SOLUTION: A filament body is prepared by twisting a first laminated tape formed by integrally laminating an expanded graphite tape on one or both faces of plain-woven strip-shaped carbon fiber bundle, the expanded graphite tape is integrally laminated on one or both faces of a reinforcement material formed by arranging a plurality of reinforcement fiber or reinforcement linear material approximately in parallel with each other or a reinforcement material obtained by cutting the woven fabric into the strip-shape to be used as a second laminated tape, and the second laminated tape is wound around the filament body to form this packing material.
