PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image inputting device for securing the arrangement position of a light source in a transparent rotary roller, and reducing the diameter of the transparent rotary roller. SOLUTION: This image inputting device 1 is provided with a rotary roller 3 supported around an axial center so as to be freely rotated, a solid-state imaging device 9 arranged in the rotary roller 3, which is made longitudinal in the direction parallel to the axial center of the rotary roller 3, a selfoc lens array 8 which is arranged in the rotary roller 3 and by which an image of a part where the outer peripheral face of the rotary roller 3 is brought into contact with a finger 20 is formed in the solid-state imaging device 9 and an illuminating light source 10 for irradiating the part where the outer peripheral face of the rotary roller 3 is brought into contact with the finger 20 with lights. An optical axis 8a of the selfoc lens array 8 is deviated from the radius of the rotary roller 3 to avoid the axial center of the rotary roller 3. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
