<p>Excitation method for use with a nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) examination of a patient in which adiabatic conditioning of at least a part of the patient body (92) is undertaken using a number of high frequency pulses. An independent claim is made for an excitation method for use in NMR examinations wherein: a patient body is exposed to an aligned magnetic field (B0, 82); adiabatic conditioning of at least a part of the body is undertaken using a first sequence of high frequency pulses; a second sequence of high frequency pulses is then applied in the opposite direction to the gradient field and; a resonance signal is received from the patient body in response to the second high frequency pulse sequence.</p> |
