The piston and cylinder system consists of a piston (2) movable in a cylinder (1), a filling connection (6) for working medium (7), and a compression spring (4) against the action of which the piston is preloaded in its reciprocating movement between two end points in the cylinder. The cylinder, preferably at the end in the direction of the piston rod (5), has at least one recess in which is fitted a retaining element by which the piston is axially fixed in the cylinder. There may be several recesses distributed around the circumference of the cylinder. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a disengagement system for a friction clutch in the drive train of a motor vehicle, including the proposed piston and cylinder system; and (b) a procedure for the filling of a hydraulic piston and cylinder system.
