A device for blocking a blood vessel which comprises a metallic coil, a sustained-release member and a cell growth factor. As the cell growth factor, use can be made of, for example, basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF), acidic fibroblast growth factor (aFGF), platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), transforming growth factor beta1 (TGF-beta), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) or connective tissue growth factor (CTGF). As the sustained-release member, use can be made of, for example, a hydrophilic hydrogel. By using this device for blocking a blood vessel, a blood vessel site such as an aneurysm can be blocked and, in a preferable case, organization can be induced in vivo.
