<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine structure for an outboard motor in which a hydraulic circuit including an oil control valve (OCV), etc., can be installed on a head cover. <P>SOLUTION: This engine structure is composed of a cylinder head 18, a cylinder block, a crankcase, etc., combined with each other. In a cam housing integrally composed with the cylinder head 18, a camshaft 34 for opening/closing intake/exhaust valves is provided. At one end of the camshaft 34, the cam housing 37 is provided to be exposed outward on the side where a variable valve timing mechanism 72 for the cylinder head 18 is provided.
