PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide navigation equipment with which the user can easily decide the updating timing of map data. SOLUTION: A vehicle position calculating section 20 calculates the position of its own vehicle by performing map matching etc., and, at the same time, judges whether the position of its own vehicle gets out of a road shown on a map. When the position of its own vehicle gets out of the road, an accumulating section 30 accumulates the traveling distance of the vehicle. When the accumulated traveling distance exceeds a prescribed reference notifying value, an update notifying section 32 prepares a notifying image and performs prescribed notification.
