PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the malfunction of a recording/reproducing apparatus due to an R/C signal to be outputted from an STB, and to further improve the convenience of an STB automatic video recording function, with respect to the recording/reproducing apparatus provided with the STB automatic video recording function. SOLUTION: It is determined whether the R/C signal received by the recording/reproducing apparatus 1 is an R/C signal transmitted from an STB 90 or an R/C signal operated by a user, and a recording/reproducing unit 10 which is in a state other than an STB automatic recording standby state invalidates the R/C signal from the STB 90.
