PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inter-vehicle distance controller capable of eliminating uncomfortable feeling of a driver by predicting risk using a mounted radar device. SOLUTION: This inter-vehicle distance controller 101 comprises a risk estimating means for deriving or estimating risk of road environment or running environment based on information of reflected object other than an antecedent vehicle obtained from the mounted radar device 102, and a means for correcting a target acceleration/deceleration based on road environmental risk. Thus, a new device for recognizing the running environment is not required and a signal from the conventionally mounted radar device can be used, so that uncomfortable feeling of the driver can be eliminated without increasing the cost, the inter-vehicle distance controller 101 close to the feeling of the driver can be realized. The conventional inter-vehicle distance controller cannot differentiate between running environment giving the driver feeling of oppression and running environment giving the driver no feeling of oppression due to large road width and roadside zone, for example, and hence controls car speed at the same target acceleration/deceleration under either running environment, so that the driver may feel uncomfortableness.
