摘要 PURPOSE: An apparatus for reassembling segmented packet data, and a method therefor are provided to reduce load of a CPU by processing reassembly of segmented packet data in a reassembly dedicated process, and increase the efficiency of a whole system. CONSTITUTION: An NP(Network Process) receives partial packet data, and examines an IP header of the received packet data for judging whether the received packet data is partial packet data. If not, the NP(400) transmits the received packet data to a CPU(Central Processing Unit). The NP(400) judges whether the specific packet data is initially received packet data. If so, the NP(400) receives transmission of a CPU having the lowest load among a plurality of CPUs(402). The NP(400) adds call identifying information to the partial packet data and transmits the partial packet data to an RP(Reassemble Process). The received packet data is stored in a memory(406) to be stored. The RP(404) judges whether the received partial packet data is final partial packet data of the specific packet data. If so, the partial packet data is stored in the confirmed memory(406). The received partial packet data is recombined with partial packet data stored in the confirmed memory(406).
