<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nacelle turn drive device capable of preventing damage on blades of a wind and destruction of a tower due to gust or the like during standstill of the nacelle even if brake capacity in a turning direction of the nacelle is large, and its operating method. <P>SOLUTION: A nacelle (3) and a drive device (31) for freely turnably driving the nacelle (3) within roughly horizontal plane through the medium of a reduction gear (50) are provided to the upper part of a tower (2). A clutch (40A) and brake (40B) are arranged between the drive device (31) and the reduction gear (50) or in the reduction gear (50). The clutch (40A) is arranged between the drive device (31) and the reduction gear (50) or in the reduction gear (50), wherein a shaft brake (74) can be provided on a motor shaft opposed to the reduction gear (50) across the drive device (31). If wind speed exceeds the prescribed value during stop of power generation, in the operating method, the clutch (40A) and the brake (40B) which is arranged closer to the reduction gear (50) than to the clutch (40A) are turned off, thereby making the nacelle (3) freely turnable. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
