ELECTRODE FOR ELECTROCHEMICAL ELEMENT AND BATTERY USING SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode of low cost with high utilization rate of an active material and excellent productivity, and to provide a manufacturing method of a battery equipped with the same.

SOLUTION: A following metal plate 1 is used as a base material for the electrode. The metal plate 1 has a number of protrusions 3 formed so as to protrude alternately backward and frontward. Each protrusion 3 is formed in a frustum of a pyramid with an area of the upper base 5 narrower than that of the lower base 6. A hole 10 with a punched flash 7 punched almost in a shape of a frustum of a pyramid from the upper base 5 toward the lower base is formed at the upper base 5 of each protrusion 3 so that the shape of an opening 8 of the upper base is polygonal. An electrode mixture layer 24 is formed on the surface of an electrode base material made of the metal plate 1, and is compressed to make up the electrode. A plain part 22 with the electrode mixture not formed is provided at an end in a width direction of the metal plate 1. A thickness and a unit weight of the plain part 22 after compression is almost equal to a thickness and a unit weight of the metal plate 1 at a part with the electrode mixture layer 24 after compression.
