METHOD FOR ENZYME MODIFICATION AND VARIANT POLYHYDROXYALKANOIC ACID SYNTHETASE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for designing a variant of a polyhydroxyalkanoic acid synthetase for freely converting the content of a monomer species of a polyester synthesized by the enzyme by freely converting the substrate selectivity of the polyhydroxyalkanoic acid synthetase to a desired property, a method for the production of the enzyme variant and a method for producing a polyhydroxyalkanoic acid by using the enzyme variant.

SOLUTION: A theoretical analyzing and designing technology is applied to a steric structure model of a polyhydroxyalkanoic acid synthetase to design the variation of the enzyme to convert the substrate specificity of the enzyme and change the content of a monomer species of a polyester synthesized by the enzyme.
