PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a geographic information providing system such that a device becomes inexpensive since a GPS antenna etc. is unnecessary and a position can easily be inputted in a short period of time. SOLUTION: A geographic information providing system 20 is equipped with a receiving means 1 for receiving identification symbol information inputted from terminal equipment 10, a geographic information retrieving means 2 for retrieving specified geographic information indicating a position corresponding to the identification symbol information by using a geographic information database 3 wherein geographic information and identification symbol information are stored while made to correspond to each other, and an output means 4 for outputting the specified geographic information so that the terminal equipment 10 can display it.
