PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head-mounted display which detects the approach or the contact of an object to a picture output part and moves the picture output part. SOLUTION: The head-mounted display mounted on the user's head so as to display a picture is equipped with the picture output part to display the picture, a support part to support the picture output part so as to move between a projecting state and a retreating state and also mount the head-mounted display on the user's head, an actuator to move the picture output part between the projecting state and the retreating state, and a sensor to be used as the starting trigger of the actuator.
