摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a universal joint capable of preventing the bottom wall periphery of a bearing member from breakage owing to a concentrated load by supporting the bottom wall periphery uniformly over the whole circumference and thereby lowering the bearing pressure. SOLUTION: The universal joint is structured so that an input shaft yoke 2 and an output shaft yoke installed at the confronting end parts of an input shaft and an output shaft are coupled together by a cruciform shaft 5 and the journals 5b of the cruciform shaft are supported on the yokes rotatably by the bearing members 6 held in a bearing holes 8 formed at the forefront parts of the yokes. The bearing members are formed from a synthetic resin material having low friction and a lower hardness than the yokes made of metal, and each bearing hole is furnished with a ring-shaped supporting member 17 made of metal for supporting the outer bottom surface periphery 13d of the bottom wall 13 of the bearing member approximately uniformly in the circumferential direction.
