PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auto-choke device in which the opening/closing degree of a choke valve is made appropriate for starting an engine to thereby start the engine smoothly even when start and stop of the engine is repeated relatively for a short period of time and in which the engine speed at the time of idling of the engine can be kept appropriate corresponding to the opening/closing degree of a throttle valve after starting the engine. SOLUTION: The auto-choke device 10 includes the automatic opening/closing type choke valve 13 arranged at a carburetor section 11 of the engine. The auto-choke device is provided with an electric motor which controls the opening/closing degree of the choke valve 13, a recognition means which recognizes the condition of the engine 3, and a control means which drives and controls the electric motor depending on the condition of the engine 3 recognized by the recognition means.
