A simple design for a variable inductance uses a steel spring with a low resistance coating and with mechanical distortion to vary the inductance. The distortion can be applied via a cable pull, chain pull or via a spindle drive. The inductance can be fitted with an end contact. The system can be further enhanced by a servo drive.
