PURPOSE: A method for inputting a character through a hieroglyphic combination of English is provided to input alphabet fast and effectively using a limited keypad such as a mobile communication terminal. CONSTITUTION: Each character of the alphabet is expressed by combining two buttons. The two buttons hieroglyphically forms one alphabetic character. The eight buttons having a hieroglyphic symbol are extracted by analyzing a hieroglyphic pattern of each alphabetic character and giving a rule to the hieroglyphic patterns. Thus, the positions of the 26 alphabets to be remembered by a user are remarkably reduced to eight positions.
