<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a theft detecting device that receives a signal indicating that a registered person known by a user detects a theft even when the user himself/herself cannot receive the signal, improves probability to prevent the theft thereby, and allows rapid countermeasures. <P>SOLUTION: A transmitting circuit 23 of radio transmission controlled by a microcomputer 21 transmits a theft warning signal including identification data for specifying a vehicle 1 that has detected the theft toward unspecified number of persons. A registration memory 49 for memorizing a plurality of identification data specifying the vehicle 1 is disposed in a portable radio 4. The portable radio 4 is provided with a microcomputer 41 for determining whether the identification data of corresponding vehicle 1 is included in the received theft warning signal or the identification data of another vehicle 1 registered in the registration memory 49 of the portable radio 4 is included in the received theft warning signal.
