PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus capable of enhancing the convenience by performing reading of an original or an output of an image at high speed. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus is provided with: a read section 3 for reading an image of an original; an image storage section 11 for storing image data of all pages read by the read section 3 in units of pages; a page memory 12 having a plurality of areas for temporarily storing image data of part of pages read by the read section and image data of part of pages extracted from the image storage section 11 by one page each; an output section 14 for extracting image data by one page each from the page memory 12 and outputting the image data; and an entry section 5 for setting the sequence of the pages outputted from the output section by a user, when the read section 3 or the image storage section 11 writes image data to the page memory 12 and there are pages whose output is finished, the areas storing the pages are selected for a write destination, and when there is no page whose output is finished, usable areas are searched sequentially from the areas for storing the finally outputted page and selected for the write destination.
