PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing method and a printer in which optimal printing on both sides is realized depending on the type of ink, or the like, at the time of printing on both sides. SOLUTION: In the ink unit being mounted removably on a printer printing on both sides of a medium and comprising an information storing section and a section for containing ink being used when the printer performs printing on both sides of the medium, both side print information being used when the printer performs printing on both sides of the medium using ink contained in the ink containing section is stored in the storing section.
