PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a telephone set capable of improving functions by transmitting a response message of more appropriate contents to the other party in accordance with a receiver's situations when call incoming. SOLUTION: The telephone set has a plurality of operation keys 13b, a plurality of memory parts 12 and 12b for storing a plurality of response messages in advance which are allocated in correspondence to specific operation keys out of the plurality of operation keys and their combination, and a control unit 20 for controlling so that the corresponding response message is called by the operation of the operation keys from the memory parts and called reply message is outputted to the other party. Thus, since the response message of more appropriate contents can be transmitted in accordance with the receiver's situations when call incoming, the functions of the telephone set can be improved without making the other party feel unpleasant or the like.
