PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operating mode switching method for automatically and appropriately achieving switching to a designated operational mode in a short period of time. SOLUTION: The automatic operational mode switching method, for producing products while automatically switching operational modes in a plant, device or other facilities where a plurality of kinds of products are produced, comprises a step for presetting operating requirements for each operational mode and switching requirements at the time of switching; step S2 for determining the switching pattern of the operational modes; step S3 for stopping operation by the current operational mode at the time of switching; step S4 for changing the operating requirements in the operating mode before the switching to the operating requirements in the mode at the time of switching; step S6 for controlling the switching in accordance with the switching requirements; and steps S10, S11 for changing the switching requirements, after the completion of the switching, to the operating requirements after the switching, to start the operation of the facility or the like.
