The hose(1) has an elastomer outer layer(2) onto which a sacrificial part is applied at specific areas to prevent damage due to abrasion against other components. The sacrificial part is cut from a flat sheet or plate and is vulcanized together with the hose. The sacrificial part(3) is punched out of the sheet and may be frame-shaped and or have the form of an ellipse, a circle or a rhombus. The sacrificial part projects above the hose surface by 5-20% of hose diameter(D) and has a breadth at least twice the height. Height of the sacrificial part is 5-20% of the length, preferably 1-10mm and length is 1-2 times the breadth. Sacrificial parts may comprise areas of different heights. The part extends around less than half the hose circumference, the hose having a constant diameter and comprising multiple layers. An adhesive layer may be applied between the outer hose layer(2) and sacrificial part. An independent claim is included for a process for manufacturing the curved tube in which a flat sacrificial part(3) is applied to a specific area of the hose and vulcanized with the hose.
