<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an opening/closing detector in which restriction on the arrangement of components due to coincidence of the opening/closing direction of a cover and the urging direction of the opening/closing detector can be avoided. <P>SOLUTION: The opening/closing detector of a cover which opens/closes by turning about a specified axis comprises a member (825) moving in the axial direction depending on the opening/closing of the cover, and a part (829) for detecting the movement. When a protrusion (809d) fixed to the cover moves up and down as the cover opens and closes, the member (825) moves correspondingly to the left and right and the detecting part (829) detects that movement.
